Worshiping with Holy Spirit

Jesus promises us that Holy Spirit will “take of what is Mine and will reveal it to you” ~John 14:16. Now, Holy Spirit is the same as Jesus even though we can’t see Him, that He “appears” to our consciences as wind/a breath/a breeze ~cf. John 3:7-8 and has the character of the presence and effect of oil which is anointing ~cf. Luke 4:18a. He is also like water, cf. John 4:13 and esp. John 7:37-39

Holy Spirit is the Spirit of Christ ~cf. Philippians 1:19 & 1 Peter 1:11, and Jesus Himself said of Him: “I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Helper”, ~John 14:16 where the word that’s used for “another” means another of the same kind.

The original Greek word used for “another” is allos whereas the text could have used the alternative word for another: heteros. Vine’s Expository Dictionary differentiates between the two words thus: “Allos expresses a numerical difference and denotes “another of the same sort;” heteros expresses a qualitative difference and denotes “another of a different sort.” Christ promised to send “another Comforter” (allos, “another like Himself,” not heteros)”.

Therefore it’s justifiable by the original Greek text to claim that Holy Spirit is the same as Jesus in spirit, in character, in conduct, with Christ’s love and attention, with His works and wonders and/or with the power, knowledge and authority of Christ’s works and wonders!

It’s evident that Jesus worshiped us!

That might be a hard concept to comprehend due to our current day heritage of ‘strict Biblical teaching’, but the meaning of worship is worth-ship. It’s assigning value to someone or something. Question: How much value does God attribute to you? “For our sake he made him to be sin who knew no sin, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God” ~2 Corinthians 5:21. Answer: That much value!

Therefore, what is said of our worship in Romans 12:1b, is applicable to Christ: “present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your spiritual worship”. For it’s recorded that Christ had this conversation with our Father in heaven before He was sent into our world:

“Consequently, when Christ came into the world, he said,
“Sacrifices and offerings you have not desired,
but a body have you prepared for me”, ~Hebrews 10:5.

We know that Jesus is God incarnate/God in the flesh/God in a personal body and that He sacrificed Himself “in worship of us” in order to avail us of His righteousness: “For this reason the Father loves me, because I lay down my life that I may take it up again. No one takes it from me, but I lay it down of my own accord. I have authority to lay it down, and I have authority to take it up again. This charge I have received from my Father”, ~John 10:17-18.

Therefore Christ worshiped us, for He “presented His own body as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which was His spiritual service of worship”, ~cp. Romans 12:1b so that “He would be made sin who knew no sin, in order that we may become the righteousness of God in Him”, ~cp. 2 Corinthians 5:21.

Holy Spirit was the One who “made this happen” – this connection and unity: us with God, through Christ becoming our sin, for Christ was “declared to be the Son of God in power according to the Spirit of holiness by his resurrection from the dead”, ~Romans 1:4.

The sinless, innocent life of Christ being sacrificed, was raised by Holy Spirit for our justification ~cf. Romans 4:25.

Therefore Holy Spirit knows how to “make us worship”/lead us in worship according to His will, that is: in congruence with HIs intentions, HIs volition, His motives and motivation and for His purpose(s) that He intends to bring forth through each believer who’s worshiping God through Him.

He does this in accordance with Jesus’ word: “He will take of what is Mine and will reveal it to you” ~John 14:16.

Question: What belongs to Jesus that Holy Spirit can give to you, reveal to you, show you in Truth, and work through you? Answer: Everything that Jesus did whilst on earth, everything that God has promised in His word and simply everything or anything because Jesus is sovereign. The most precious promise for our worship is from Colossians 1:21:

“And you, who once were alienated and hostile in mind, doing evil deeds, he has now reconciled in his body of flesh by his death, in order to present you holy and blameless and above reproach before him”.

Through our worship, Holy Spirit “presents us holy and blameless and above reproach before God” as our Father’s beloved sons and daughters, trusting childlike ones and honorable family members of our heavenly family, with our brother: Jesus, rejoicing over us with singing.

There is a condition to that scriptural promise of Colossians 1:21 “if indeed you continue in the faith, stable and steadfast, not shifting from the hope of the gospel that you heard”, ~v22. But here, we’re talking about those who are willing, even passionate about worshiping God, so that’s “a given”!

And “the icing on the cake”/the “cream of the crop”? As we worship through Holy Spirit’s counsel and lead, it’s God who’s seeking us!

“…the hour is coming, and is now here, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth, for the Father is seeking such people to worship him. God is spirit, and those who worship him must worship in spirit and truth”, ~John 4:23-24.

“For the eyes of the LORD run to and fro throughout the whole earth, to show Himself strong on behalf of those whose heart is loyal to Him”, ~2 Chronicles 16:9, NKJV.

It may not need to be said, but: Do you want to have “God backing you up”/the strength of God in your life/God honoring you? Then worship Him in the Spirit of Truth/in and by Holy Spirit’s worshipful knowledge of you! This is also how we receive and use His gifts.
